Who wants to play Ghost of a Tale 2?
Hello there! 🙂
I may have said something to this effect before but one thing with game development is time doesn’t quite unfold at a normal pace. To us working on the game means frantic work every day, energetic, frustrating (the bugs) and exciting (the creative freedom!). But to the outside world I know it looks like not much is happening.
So let’s change that today. The time has finally come to show you some of what we’ve been working on!
The thing is we don’t just want to show you, we want to give you a chance to actually play the game! And what better venue than the halls of gamescom for that?
Next week, starting on Wednesday the 26th of August, we’ll be in Cologne at our very own booth (Hall 10.1, stand A087). You’re welcome to swing by, grab a gamepad and experience Ghost of a Tale 2 for yourself!
And now a few words about the game’s story: This new adventure begins about a month after the ending of the first game. It takes place in Port Scarn, a medieval harbour city under curfew, on the eastern shore of lake Vaelia.
You play as Fatale, a thieving mouse who, along with her brother Gusto, will become embroiled in far-reaching events as the tale of a certain lute-carrying minstrel spreads throughout Muridea…

With this game we want to offer a glimpse of the larger world of Ghost of a Tale. It will tell at its core a simple story, focused on significant events with far-reaching consequences but seen through the eyes of the “small people” (Gusto & Fatale) struggling to get by in a dangerous world.
You will meet new friends and foes, along with some more familiar characters. For example you might recognize the old codger below. Looks like his luck hasn’t improved much, right? Unless he just likes it better that way…

With Ghost of a Tale 2 we intend on cultivating the strengths of the first game; charm, humor and emotion, rather than epic battles and power-leveling. The game relies on a sense of wonder and we intend it to be an invitation to explore a small world populated with interesting characters and meaningful stories.
But don’t take our word for it, come and play the gamescom demo!

To that point and out of respect for the people who’ll make the effort of coming in person to discover the game we’ll refrain from showing any footage for now. Worry not though, we’ll reveal much more after gamescom… 😉
P.S. The technical blog posts will make a comeback, it just didn’t feel right to start posting those before the game’s properly revealed.

August 21, 2026 at 6:17 pmThis is ABSOLUTELY fascinating news! 2026 is already packed with massive releases, but for me, you are the absolute icing on the cake. Even though we won’t be playing as Tilo the mouse bard this time, I really hope you’ll continue his story here so we can find out what happens next and if he finally reunites with his beloved. I also hope you haven’t changed your storytelling style—I want a story that will make me roll on the floor laughing one moment and cry like a baby the next. I’m absolutely crossing my fingers for the launch, and you can be 100% sure I’m buying your game. Your universe is so incredible that I truly hope you’ll start publishing books set in it one day!

August 21, 2026 at 6:28 pmI’ so happy. I was talking to a friend about this sequel just the other day. We really love the first one.
So glad we finally got some new information.
Hope there’s a release window soon, but I know game development can be unpredictable.

August 21, 2026 at 7:40 pmThis couldn’t be better news, everything looks amazing just from the few pictures you’ve shown us. I can’t wait for the continuation of the story and undoubtedly it’ll be fantastic no matter what you give us. Hopefully going to be at gamescom (a day after my birthday as well, couldn’t have asked for a better gift!) and can’t wait to see the game there. Thank you for all the work you’ve put into both games, you’ve really graced us with this fantastic, story-rich masterpiece of a world and I among many others can’t wait to see where the story goes, excited to see it from another characters perspective. Looking forward to seeing them all again!
Hope production is going well and I wish you and the team all the best. Thank you again for this wonderful story which has shaped a massive part of my life, childhood, and personality.
